From his wooden workshop nestled in the foothills of the Yatsugatake Mountains, Nakajima-san has once again joined forces with BMW Motorrad Sagamihara for a follow-up to their 2024 R12 nineT Complete Custom. And for 2026, the bar has somehow been raised. Only nine of these stunning machines will ever exist, a limited-run production style custom from one of the best in the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, the second run brings a fresh take, balancing BMW\u2019s modern retro underpinnings with that unmistakable 46Works DNA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For years, Nakajima-san lived the fast life as the founder of the legendary Japanese outfit Ritmo Sereno. He served as the principal engineer, and it was the place to go if you wanted a full-blown custom race bike or a fast-charging retro racer for the road. But in stepping back, he in many ways, stepped up his game. Retreating to his beautiful timber workshop to create one single custom masterpiece after another. Not rushed like before, and having time to truly create perfection. But in 2024, he saw an opening, and this second production bike further helps to fill the gap between stock as a rock bike and a full-blown show machine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nakajima describes this edition as \u201cminimising costs while bringing out the charm of the model.\u201d It\u2019s a classic 46Works approach: do less, but do it flawlessly. Subtle linework flows across the tank and body, emphasising the R12\u2019s factory curves while giving it a more rounded, unmistakably BMW silhouette.
